Project Spotlight: Aurora CTF

Building and Hosting a National Cybersecurity Event

What started as a passion project between five university students evolved into a full-scale national Capture The Flag (CTF) event. My team and I built and hosted our own CTF from the ground up, a journey that took months of dedicated planning and development.

We were thrilled to partner with BT to host our inaugural event in central London, welcoming over 50 participants from across the UK. The free event featured more than 30 custom-built CTF challenges, covering a wide range of cybersecurity domains. It also provided a platform for networking and learning, with insightful talks from seasoned industry professionals.

Going from attending CTFs as a student, to helping organise a hackathon, to leading the creation of an entire event was a surreal and incredibly rewarding experience. It was a significant step in my personal and professional journey, solidifying my passion for cybersecurity and community building.
